Marine Rescue Moama volunteers search for missing fisherman

Marine Rescue Moama volunteers are assisting a multi-agency search for a missing fisherman on the Murray River at Nyah, in northern Victoria.

Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Stuart Massey said a volunteer crew and rescue vessel travelled two and a half hours from Moama to Nyah earlier this morning to assist with the search.

“Our volunteers are extremely committed to supporting neighbouring communities and working alongside our emergency services partners.

“It is not unusual for Marine Rescue Moama volunteers to travel considerable distances by road to assist with search operations.

“Marine Rescue NSW vessel Moama 20 has been deployed on the Murray River and is searching a section of the river designated by NSW and Victorian Police.

“Our volunteers will continue searching until instructed otherwise by police,” Inspector Massey said.
