Marine Rescue NSW (MRNSW) is an essential emergency service. It protects the NSW community by providing marine search and rescue response, monitoring, responding to maritime radio communications and delivering safety education programs. Our people are our greatest strength! At the heart of our organisation is more than 3,000 active volunteer members, organised into 45 geographic units. We work with other emergency services, particularly the NSW Police Force, and promote boating and water safety through community events, education, and engagement activities.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Zone Duty Operations Manager to take on this key emergency leadership role, working out of the Illawarra region.
This role will see you deliver an essential public safety emergency service by managing on-water operations and all aspects of operational preparedness for the Zone.
No two days are the same in this role. However, your day will typically involve (but will not be limited to):
You will also have the exciting opportunity to help us set up a HQ in the Southern Region of New South Wales.
Our next superstar will possess a tertiary qualification in emergency management or at least three years of proven experience in emergency services, emergency management and/or incident response.
You will need to have a fundamental understanding of operational leadership with proven experience managing teams operating in complex environments. Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills will also be critical to this role, ensuring you can effectively represent the organisation to key stakeholders.
Moreover, you will have the skills needed to engage and motivate people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and values.
Please note: You will be required to be on-call, work some weekends and work around major metropolitan aquatic events (e.g. New Year’s Eve, Sydney to Hobart and Australia Day).
