We work with other emergency services, particularly the NSW Police Force, and promote boating and water safety through community events, education, and engagement activities.

About the role

Manager Grants and Sponsorship contributes to the financial viability of MRNSW by managing the process of seeking, securing and acquitting a wide range of revenue generating initiatives including accountability for achieving revenue targets. They are a creative thinker with proven success in meeting funder requirements, who is able to work comfortably in a fast-paced creative environment, in liaison with a small, dedicated team. 

The Manager Grants and Sponsorship has a focus on collaborating with and influencing other teams to maximise synergies, jointly resolve issues and share lessons learned. They contribute to the Communications & Engagement team by sharing connections across multiple teams and units, identifying and pursuing opportunities that maximise revenue generation while simultaneously progressing a range of other organisational goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Contributing to the definition of organisational grant and fundraising priorities, and developing strategies to increase earned income streams.
  • Developing, growing, maintaining and managing MRNSW fundraising activities including sponsorships, grants, donations, corporate partnerships, donation drives, bequests and other revenue generating activities, including responsibility for achieving revenue targets where appropriate.
  • Designing, coordinating and marketing revenue generating activities in line with MRNSW mission including commercialising MRNSW skills and expertise, MRNSW e-shop, corporate opportunities and regular giving.
  • Administering grants and other external funding agreements for MRNSW priorities and projects including grant reporting and acquittal.
  • Identifying and responding to opportunities to maximise synergies between grants, sponsorship and fundraising and related activities across MRSNW including communications, engagement, marketing, community education, property, infrastructure and/or operations.

About you

You’ll have at least three years experience in a position with responsibility for grants, fundraising or revenue generation programs, preferably in a community based or volunteer organisation, along with

  • Very strong persuasive written and verbal communication skills with proven success in writing funding applications and donor focused communications
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with a diverse group of people, including high value donors and decision makers, demonstrating an ethical and honest approach with appropriate confidentiality
  • Well-developed numerical skills including sound understanding of financial accountability and responsible budget management

Knowledge of NSW government grants programs and the funding, philanthropic giving and sponsorship environments relevant to the maritime or emergency services sector is highly desirable.
