On behalf of the State Government, I want to thank all those involved in the creation of Marine Rescue NSW and its new website.
NSW has a proud history of volunteer marine rescue, thanks to the people who often put their lives on the line in atrocious seas conditions, to assist others in need.
That is why this new service is well positioned to become a model organisation of its type, building upon existing volunteers and attracting new members.
The establishment of a new State-wide volunteer marine rescue service has received overwhelming support. Members of existing groups can be assured Marine Rescue NSW’s local assets will remain with each unit and that any future consolidation will be determined by the organisation without interference from government.
I believe this website will become an important communication device for all those associated with and interested in volunteer marine rescue in NSW. It will become the place to find news, safety and general information, membership details, sponsorship opportunities and much more.
I wish all its members well and I am sure they will do the volunteer rescue movement proud.
