- Marine Rescue Hawkesbury assisting Police in river search
- July 23, 2012
A NSW Police Force search of the Hawkesbury River for a missing person is being coordinated from the Mooney Mooney base of Marine Rescue Hawkesbury.
Volunteers from the Marine Rescue unit, led by Unit Commander Merv Collins, are on the water assisting Police from the Ku-ring-gai Local Area Command.
Police Inspector David Hogg said: “The search is for a 19-year-old male whose car was abandoned on the side of the F3 Freeway. The man has been missing since Friday.”
Marine Rescue Hawkesbury Administration Officer Ken Edwards said the base had been opened at 1.30pm today to assist Police with the search.
“We have called in other volunteers to prepare another search boat to take to the water if needed,” he said.
“Our base is well-equipped and centrally located in the search area to assist police in this operation.
“Briefings have been given to State Emergency Service volunteers who have also been called in and our radio room is providing a communications centre for the search.”
