- $1.5 million boat rescued safely
- May 23, 2012
Marine Rescue Port Macquarie has this afternoon responded to a call for help from the owner of a 19-metre Manhattan Sunseeker motorboat.
The captain, a man from Cleveland, Brisbane, called for help when the yacht steering failed as a result of an electrical fault.
The captain and four others on board were not injured.
A marine rescue vessel reached the stranded vessel at 1.10pm and towed it to safety in the Hastings River.
It is awaiting repair at Port Macquarie Marina.
Marine Rescue Port Macquarie unit commander Peter Ellison said a crew of three responded to the call at 12.50pm.
He estimated the vessel was worth more than $1.5 million.
"The crew are all okay and will stay here while it's repaired," Mr Ellison said.
The ship was on its way from Sydney to Queensland when it struck trouble off Flynns Beach.
