- Two fishermen, boy rescued off Oxley Beach
- April 12, 2012
Two professional fishermen and a boy had to be rescued on Saturday morning by another boater and the marine rescue service after their small boat capsized and began to sink.
The fishermen had reported to the authorities that they were going to Tacking Point, but the boat was found off Oxley Beach.
Port Macquarie unit commander Peter Ellison said it was common for professionals to be secretive about their locations because they strove to keep their fishing spots under wraps.
Mr Ellison said these boaters were lucky an onlooker from the shores of Oxley Beach reported the incident to police, who alerted marine rescue.
