A NEW vessel will help a volunteer organisation to better respond to search and rescue and assist the St George boating community.

The Marine Rescue NSW Botany Bay unit officially welcomed a $280,000 eight-metre Kevlacat offshore vessel at St George Motor Boat Club last month and gave it a champagne soaking.

Marine Rescue commissioner Stacey Tannos, chairman Jim Glissan and Botany Bay unit commander Mark McKenzie were among the guests.
