About Marine Rescue NSW

On New Year's Day 2010 Marine Rescue NSW – the amalgamation of the three major voluntary marine rescue organisations began operating on the water with a number of vessels in the new white and red Marine Rescue colours, and crews in the new blue Marine Rescue uniforms. At the same time, all VMR units adopted the single 'Marine Rescue' radio call sign. This was a significant advance: previous confusion over which organisation operated in which waters had been a long-running irritation for NSW recreational boaters.

Volunteers are the backbone of Marine Rescue NSW. For their support, volunteers receive free training, options to enter into regular award ceremonies and the facility to increase both their education and positions within Marine Rescue NSW.
